Octopus Dive School's daily dive schedule
We go diving every day at Octopus Dive School. We normally go out on at least three one tank trips each day, however we sometimes we add in an extra dive at dawn, in the afternoon or at night if our divers request it. We also arrange special two tank trips to some of the most popular dive sites on Roatan.
We generally aim for a maximum of 60 minutes on each dive, however we can take individual divers to the surface to re-board the boat a little earlier if need be. We can be flexible with our departure times if you are here for the day on a cruise ship and want to go diving in Roatan, just let us know your schedule and we will do our best to accommodate your group. Read on to find out about the best dive times for you and our Roatan diving schedule.
9.00 ONE TANK MORNING DIVE
This dive is popular with advanced divers who want to visit the deeper part of Roatan’s reef, but it is open to everyone. We can always split the group so some can stay shallower.
11.00 ONE TANK MORNING DIVE
Mid-morning is great for photography as we get the best light at this time. It’s also an ideal second dive if you prefer to keep your afternoon free for other activities on Roatan.
2.30 ONE TANK AFTERNOON DIVE
The afternoon is when most fish on Roatan spawn, so this is when you’ll get to see the biggest schools of them off the wall. Also a great time of day to explore the shallow reef.
Aside from our regular schedule, we offer lots of special trips for adventurous divers who want to do something different. Let us know what interests you?

Diver safety is our top priority at Octopus
We want everyone to have fun diving at Octopus Dive School, and for us that means keeping our divers safe while they enjoy blowing bubbles underwater. We have an impeccable safety record and we strictly follow all PADI guidelines for safe diving practices. This means you will always receive a thorough briefing prior to each dive you do with us. Before your first dive at Octopus, we’ll make sure you know how to stay safe on board our boat and where the first aid, oxygen kit are located. We carry fresh water on board as well as a VHF radio for communication with shore in case of emergency. We also constantly monitor local weather conditions and plan our dives accordingly.
The nearest hyperbaric chamber and a clinic which specializes in diving medicine is located just minutes by boat from our dive shop and all our staff have comprehensive training and recognized qualifications in first aid. One of the many reasons we keep our groups of divers small is so that our dive professionals our able to spot and manage potential problems before situations can escalate. Our dive guides always carry surface markers while leading dives and while training in shallow water.
BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE YOU LAST WENT DIVING?
To keep everyone safe we ask that you refresh your skills a little before heading out on your first dive with us, especially if you haven’t logged many dives yet. Our easy refresher program takes just a couple of hours and is guaranteed to improve your confidence and diving techniques in the water.
First of all your instructor will help review your knowledge about the important safety considerations we all have to be aware of while diving. Then you will practice putting together and checking your dive equipment.
After a briefing about what you are going to do, you will go out into the shallow water just off the beach to practice the most essential diving skills with your instructor. This will include: how to do a buddy check, how inflate and deflate your BCD, clear your mask, recover your regulator, share air with another diver and how to control your buoyancy effectively on the surface and underwater.

GOT CERTIFIED LONG AGO? HARDLY DIVED SINCE?
We can help your reactivate your skills as a diver and renew your scuba diving certification. This whole day course will take you through a simplified, yet thorough version of your basic dive training course.
Initially, your will need to refresh your knowledge about diving. You can either do that online via PADI’s E-Learning system or stop by our dive center to collect a short instructional manual to read before you begin. The day of your course, your instructor will help review your knowledge and discuss with you the dive skills you would most like to focus on reviewing. You will practice putting together and checking your dive equipment and get a detailed briefing about the skills you need to brush up on.
Following this you will go out into the shallow water by our private beach to practice those skills with your instructor. Once you’ve gained confidence using your dive equipment again, you will head out for a nice easy dive on the reef.
